392 I have truly enjoyed this book. While there are plenty of good books on the Spiritual Disciplines this is both a good introdution as well as a solid refresher. I appreciate his categories of God's Voice, God's Ear and God's Body. From there Mathis gives a solid biblical foundation for each discipline followed by practical tips to put them into practice. The strength of this book is not that it is another study and how to but here's why this is important. The motivation Mathis lays out is great. If you want to truly enjoy Jesus and a relationship with God your Father you can get to know Him, and the better you know Him the more you will enjoy Him while becoming like Him.If there is one thing I wish the book did would be to spend more time on Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Beyond that I will continuie to keep this book close and use its ideas in my own disciplines, and I hope to incorporate his ideas of journalling itno me own practice.
